About this role.
Our client within the European Institutions is currently looking for a Senior Data Architect to lead the technical assessment, design and hands-on delivery of DG COMP's migration from its current BI/DWH environment to the Commission's corporate data, ETL and reporting platforms, covering requirements analysis, target architecture, data modelling, proofs of concept, ETL/ELT development and migration execution, while keeping data integrity, performance and service continuity intact.
Tasks:
- Lead the technical assessment of corporate sovereign data, ETL/integration and reporting/dashboarding platforms proposed by the Commission against DG COMP’s business requirements, data landscape, technical specificities, performance, scalability, security and integration needs.
- Translate business and migration requirements into technical specifications and target data architectures supporting immediate operational needs and longer-term evolution.
- Analyse the existing BI/DWH architecture, databases, data models, ETL processes, integrations, reports and dashboards to identify dependencies, gaps, migration constraints and technical risks.
- Design the target architecture and migration approach, including transition scenarios, data mappings, dependencies, sequencing, validation, cutover and, where relevant, coexistence of existing and target solutions.
- Prepare and support technical proofs of concept to validate proposed solutions against representative DG COMP use cases and data.
- Prepare and monitor the technical implementation of migrations, working closely with the BI/DWH team and corporate service providers to ensure data integrity, service continuity and successful transition.
- Design data integration solutions using ETL/ELT processes and tools, and develop or adapt jobs and pipelines required for migration and operational needs.
- Create, adapt and optimise conceptual, logical and physical data models supporting existing and target environments.
- Perform hands-on technical work when required, including database-level analysis, SQL, data profiling and mapping, ETL/ELT development, troubleshooting, validation, optimisation and migration, monitor and optimise data systems, databases and pipelines for performance, scalability and reliability.
Requirements:
- B2 level of English minimum + any level of French is an asset
- Master's degree + min. 10 years of experience OR
- Bachelor's degree + min. 12 years of experience OR
- 17 years of experience
- B2 level of English. Any knowledge of French is an asset
- Minimum 2 years experience in enterprise data architecture and platform assessment, including BI, data and integration environments.
- Minimum 2 years hands-on with enterprise relational databases/DWH, including SQL analysis, troubleshooting and performance optimisation.
- Minimum 2 years hands-on with ETL/ELT and data integration tools, developing, adapting and troubleshooting pipelines.
- Minimum 2 years applying data modelling across conceptual, logical and physical layers, including 3NF, Data Vault, dimensional/star-schema approaches.
- Minimum 1 year involved in enterprise data/BI/DWH migrations.
- One of the following or an equivalent certification is mandatory: TOGAF, CDMP, DAMA-DMBoK, and ISO data governance standards.
- One of the following or an equivalent certification is optional: Cloud data certifications (AWS, Azure, etc.), ITIL 4 Foundation or SAFe, and security certifications (e.g., CCSP, CISSP).
